I’ve forgotten to mention: writing a story that takes place almost entirely within the context of moving an army is quite a challenge. Not that I know much about armies — apart from the make-believe world of Pennsic — but at least having read a lot of Caesar, Livy and Tacitus, this sounds familiar.
